Senior

The competition's flagship category, open to accordionists up to 27 in the year of the competition. This is where the largest prize of the Grand Prix is decided, and where a mature, fully realised performance is expected.

Programme requirements

Round 1

Recorded online

A compulsory piece from the published list
A piece composed before 1800
Two pieces of contrasting character and style, at least one of them an original work for the accordion

One of the pieces may be a single movement from a cyclic work.

Playing time: maximum 20 minutes (the compulsory piece is not counted)

Round 2

An original work for the accordion, preferably a larger or cyclic form

Round 3

Three or more pieces of different style and character
A polyphonic (contrapuntal) work

At least one of the pieces must be an original work for the accordion.

Playing time: between 20 and 30 minutes

In this edition you record Round 1 online, in a single take. Those who go through are unlocked for the next round. The recording may run up to 45 minutes in total, so the compulsory piece fits alongside the programme.
